How to make the test strategy strategic

Prof. Alain Wegmann (EPFL, Switzerland)

Software testing is a resource demanding and complex activity. Unfortunately, it is impossible to test all the characteristics of an application. In addition, testing the application alone is not sufficient; introducing a new application in a company might impact already existing IT services or business processes.

In this keynote, we present how it is possible to analyze the alignment between the information technology, the business processes and the company strategy. With this analysis, it is possible to factor-in business, organizational and technological drivers in the test strategy. An example and the fundamental principles of business/IT alignment are presented.

Quality and test management in financial sector

Bora Armangil, PWM International, Deutsche Bank, Switzerland

In the past decade, financial institutions have seen a dramatic increase in the diversity of their product range to respond to changing market conditions and clients demand for performance. This, combined with the ever-expanding complexity of the regulatory environment has lead to increasingly sophisticated business processes and underlying IT landscape. In that demanding environment, the key question for all CIOs is: How to implement changes while ensuring that business is not disrupted, precious ressources are not wasted, cost targets are met and most importantly quality objectives are reached?

Finding the right paradigm for your organization for test management is an important building block to deliver against these objectives. In this session we will explore options and illustrate by the approach we adopted in Deutsche Bank Switzerland.
